Salted Caramel GU Energy Gel review
Dear Izzy, Max, and Kate,
I was sure I had found my true love, as energy gels go, when I first tried GU’s Peanut Butter flavor gel. Many dozens of packets of Peanut Butter gel have accompanied me on rides and runs and through events.
I’m a loyal guy, only occasionally straying to another flavor (usually a GU Roctane flavor).
But another gel has come into my life.
It’s mid-winter and I’m a bit heavier (maybe a lot), a bit hairier (significantly), and a bit more abominable (coffee please). Like a hibernating bear. Actually more like Yeti since I stay pretty active through the winter.
GU’s Salted Caramel gel is honestly the best tasting energy gel – on par with Peanut Butter flavor – that I have ever tasted. I’ve had to force myself not to eat them as a snack on non-training days. They’re that good.
Like a crazy good healthy indulgence in a 100 calorie jolt that gives you super Yeti strength.
The Salted Caramel flavor has increased electrolytes from standard GU flavors and still contains the same amino acids blend and full serving of vitamins C and E. To top it off Salted Caramel also includes 20mg of caffeine, making it the perfect combo for my other non-caffeinated love, Peanut Butter. I plan to alternate the two on long training days through the 2014 season.
I love you,
