The Christmas Tree
Dear Izzy, Max, and Kate,
You wrote this poem last night Izzy. Thank you for the beautiful reminder (you’ve always had a way of keeping us centered). It made Mommy and I both shed a few tears – in the midst of this busy season, in the midst of discussions about too many gifts and the cost, and the future, and the stress – you still know. And we love you for being you:
“The Christmas Tree”
Look at the Christmas Tree
as it glows up.
What will be beneath it
A doll or a pup?
We won’t know till Santa comes.
And when he does we’ll be dreaming of sugar plumbs.
But do we need this Christmas tree?
or the presents underneath?
No we don’t!
Christmas is about Jesus’s birth.
And now it is heard around the earth.
But we also like to see you smile
And spending time with family is worthwhile
Tomorrow we’ll see what’s underneath the Christmas tree.
– Izzy Nikazy
I love you,
