A Saturday nap on the couch

Dear Izzy, Max, and Kate,

I don’t nap. Ever.

Unless it’s dark outside and past 8pm, I can’t sleep. In order to sleep I need complete darkness, complete silence, and a full day of activity.

But Saturday the unthinkable happened. After a long bike, mowing the yard, and a trip all over town with you kids to buy new shoes I fell asleep on the couch while watching football. Here’s what transpired next:

How sweet. Baby Kate showed up and hugged me. You love your daddy.

Then you showed up Max. Look how gently you're touching your sleeping daddy. I'm so lucky.

Uh-oh. Kate, don't go! Max, you couldn't resist the temptation, I guess. Maybe this is still just a sweet overzealous hug.

....or maybe it was the end of my first nap on the couch EVER. Wake up Daddy! Nothing wakes you up like a smack in the face.

Good thing Mommy was there to capture all of this. She couldn’t have put you up to it.  I’m sure she put you up to it.

Who needs naps anyway?

I love you,

-Daddy
